SHOP LOCALLY IN MONMOUTH OR CHEPSTOW WHEN TRAVELLING ON THE 65 BUS THIS CHRISTMAS!

Newport Bus is pleased to partner with ‘Friends of the 65 Bus’ this Christmas, providing route 65 customers with discounted fares when using the service every Saturday before Christmas, commencing on Saturday 30th November. On 30th November, 7th, 14th and 21st December, up to 5 people (with a maximum of 2 adults) can travel between Monmouth and Chepstow anywhere on the route for a discounted group day ticket of just £8!

This offer is only available for customers using the 65 bus – made possible due to the partnership formed between both Newport Bus and Friends of the 65 bus; enabling this special offer and allowing easier travel on the route for families every Saturday leading up to Christmas.

Alex Clarke, Newport Bus’s Commercial Manager said, “We’ve been working with the Friends of the 65 Bus, since taking on the service in April. After speaking with the group, it was clear that both parties want a safe, reliable and enjoyable bus service, and we’re committed to doing so with the support of our customers. This offer is a great way for us to showcase our commitment to the communities we serve, and give back to those who’re supportive of us.”

Brian Mahony, spokesperson of Friends of the 65 Bus commented, “Friends of the 65 Bus are delighted that Newport Bus are making a special Christmas group ticket available. This is a great opportunity for family groups to save money and use the 65 Bus to shop local during this festive season.”

WALKING BY BUS

Have you thought about using the bus to do a walk? There are lots of beautiful circular walks along the route of the 65 bus (for example this short walk round Trellech – www.visitmonmouthshire.com/things-to-do/23-trellech-village-p1504471). But you can also arrange linear walks by using both the 65 and the 69 buses. Today I caught the 65 bus from The Narth to arrive in Monmouth at 9:30, and then the 69 bus at 10:10 from Monmouth to Tintern. I had time for a quick cup of coffee while waiting! Both buses welcome dogs and had friendly and helpful drivers. I then walked home, enjoying the cool shade of the woodland. Why don’t you try it and tell us about the walks you do using the bus?

“CATCH THE BUS MONTH”

September is “Catch the Bus Month”, so why not make a point of travelling by bus? It could be to meet friends, go to the pub (there are several good pubs along the route), to go to a special event like Art in Penallt or just to do your shopping. Some people enjoy taking the bus simply so that they can admire the views and the company. Whatever your reason, travelling by bus saves petrol and parking costs and helps to reduce the emissions that cause climate change.

So, try the bus in September and see where it takes you!
